On November 23, 2023, the EPFL+ECAL Lab, together with the Cantonal and University Library of Fribourg (BCU), will unveil a new research project: Èvokâ.

This experimental installation resulting from the collaboration between the two institutions, aims to explore how the BCU’s heritage collections can bring citizens together around a collective identity and reinforce the social cohesion process. The research project has brought together a multidisciplinary team of exhibition managers, computer scientists, designers and psychologists.

Based on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, Èvokâ turns archive documents such as photos, maps and posters, into a living part of Fribourg’s identity, by enabling two users to interact with thousands of historic documents.

We are glad to invite you to the official opening on November 23, 2023, at the Hôtel cantonal de Fribourg, where you will get the chance to experiment the installation!

It will be followed by an aperitif and a conference on artificial intelligence “Mit KI leben” by Anna Jobin, from the University of Fribourg, at 7 pm.
