Poster World, part of the Swiss Design Collection at Museum für Gestaltung Zürich.
Developed by the EPFL+ECAL Lab in collaboration with Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, the Poster World installation is joining the Swiss Design Collection. Opening on April 10, 2025, this new permanent exhibition gathers ca. 2000 objects from the fields of graphic design, typography, poster design, textiles and product design that have marked the history of Swiss design.
Celebrating Swiss graphic design, the Poster World installation brings together thousands of posters, selected among the museum collection. Using artificial intelligence, it reveals to the public the main graphic characteristics of the posters and associates them according to defined similarities such as main composition lines or typography.
Thus, it offers great insights into the richness and complexity of Swiss graphic design, highlighting this important cultural heritage.
Amplifying and complementing the curation work, this interactive installation gives the audience access to the museum’s vast poster collection in an unprecedented way.
The Poster World project is the fruit of two-year research in design and digital innovation, carried out by the EPFL+ECAL Lab in collaboration with the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich.
